I have struggled with being overweight since childhood.
I try to keep my calories under 2000 a day, but today I think I went over. I came home with 700 left to spare, but my wife had a big pot of beef stew and I was so hungry after work I scarfed down 2.5 bowls. So much that I feel like if I eat another bite I will pop. Probably was 1000 calories or so…

I am asking because I plan to go to weekday Mass tomorrow and do not want to receive communion if this was mortal sin (I cannot go to confession until next Sunday).

Yes, I struggle with Scrupulosity.
Truth be told, I am on Paxil for OCD right now (and it doesn’t help with the food cravings!).

Review the three conditions for mortal sin. This does not sound like a mortal sin.

Some tips

Are you eating mindfully ? Meaning eating and being aware of the state in your guts. Feeling it fill or just mowing through the meal .

If your partner has a habit of cooking big portions , you are more likely to want to finish it up thus predisposing yourself to overeating out of obligation . Maybe chat with her about your situation ?

Certain antidepressants can increase your appetite, which you probably already know. It’s a side effect that’s very hard to manage, so it’s not your fault.

OP, since you suffer from scrupulosity, and are also presumably under a doctor’s care for your weight condition and mental health, please speak to your priest about the sin issue, as the answers here are unlikely to satisfy you.
And please speak to your medical professionals regarding calories and Paxil/ food cravings.
We should not be giving you advice on any of this in view of your conditions.
