Hi all,

I’m writing a paper for school about Frankenstein and the short story Imelda by Richard Selzer. Basically, the underlying idea of the paper is that when man tries to put himself on the level of God madness and horror follow. I was wondering if anyone had quotes from the fathers of the Church or notable theologians throughout church history that relate to this that I could use and cite in my paper. Any help would be much appreciated.

The book Ethics written by Dietrich Bonhoeffer is a great Christian examination of the field of ethics through the lens of Christianity. In it, Bonhoeffer rejects the field of ethics (man deciding what is moral or ethical) as something that came about because of the fall and is opposed to God. His first chapter is especially powerful as he addresses his thesis from the standpoint of the creation and the fall. I highly recommend you read it for your research. I think it could provide a unique perspective that is very relevant to your topic.

To me the account in Acts is the best:
