If the corpus (the small statue of Jesus) completely fell off of your crucifix, would you re-nail it back into place? Would you instead superglue it? Would you feel any sense of personal guilt? A sense of demonic activity?

At the back of Saint Michaels Church, we have a statue of St,Teresa, with a bunch of roses and a crucifix.
So with so many people touching the body of Christ, it became dislodged, so one day I went in armed with my super glue, and stuck it back on.:tiphat: theres your answer.

I never experienced this, so the answer is a guess on my part. I think I would nail it back on. I see no need to feel guilty about properly repairing a sacramental, though it might serve as a reminder of the personal nature of His crucifixion for me.

If it happens regularly it could be a fallen angel. However, more than likely The Corpus needs to be re-hung on the Cross. My guess is hammer or superglue will do the job.
As an aside:
We all hammer Our Lord to the Cross in a spiritual sense every time we sin and yet I still succumb to sins which I should not do even though I know I am harming myself, the church militant e.t.c.

this happens to me all the time, because I wear my Benectine Cross during waking hours and it often jerks on something, I have lost at least 4 this way. I hot-glue it a couple of times, but then that doesn’t work. I keep the pieces, along with broken rosaries and other sacramentals, send them to some cloistered nuns who repair them and send them to the missions.

This happened to me at least once. I decided to put the two nails that I could find into His hands and pray to find the nail for His feet. But the crucifix is still hanging. It must until he comes again to my home.:crying:

I know a priest who replaced a frequently detaching corpus with little tiny screws – He even made sure the phillips heads were oriented as + rather than x.

(And you thought being nailed to the cross was bad – Imagine being screwed to the cross – Ow  Ow  Ow  )

LOL!

The very first crucifix I was given regularly falls apart. It’s beautiful, but I think it was made pretty cheaply. Anyhow, not only does it come off the cross, but it’s limbs keep breaking. Agh!! So much for “not a bone was broken”. Glue works for awhile, but alas, gravity sets in again. Can’t seem to part w/it though, so it keeps hanging on my wall.

Here is what happened to me. I had a crucifix I wore around my neck…the cross was yellow gold and Jesus was white gold…We’ll one day I looked down and Jesus was not there…just the cross…so then my wife buys me another similar crucifix as a gift to replace the broken one…and guess what? The same thing happens…so now I am wearing just a cross

I don’t know if the jewlery cleaner undid the glue or someone is trying to tell me something or what…

Our church (Saint Mary’s of Mountain View, Arkansas) bought the old Home Economics building from the public school (a new school had been built and the old buildings were sold off.)

A few years back, we managed to build a new church. When moving, we managed to break the statue of Mary (it weighed a ton) off at the ankles. We fixed it with Gorilla Glue.

Two words.

Duct Tape. 😃

Yes, thats a joke! Whatever means of reattatchment seem appropriate. Glue/Epoxy for plastic, pinning or nails for metal or wood…

Is it metal? You could solder it back in place for a perma-fix…

It really depends on what the corpus and cross are made of but in most cases I think super-glue would work.

Use nails or superglue. Why waste a crucifix? As for “personal guilt,” I think I’d be more inclined to blame the manufacturer for having sold a poorly made product. “Demonic activity”? Hardly. But you never know. . . .

heh heh. works for just about everything around MY house…

you live in alaska? what do you do up there?

and - i would be VERY reluctant to see demonic activity around a crucifix like that. now if you hear VOICES, when it falls off… 😉

The only way to keep a uncooperative Corpus on the Cross is bailing wire.

If falls, the most logical reason is the glue melted or just gave in.If a Corpus is nailed it is a little possibility that may fall.🤓

A detatched Corpus? Never happened. Detatched INRI? I just nail it back on.
