When the Devil disappears from spirituality and belief and is replaced by some vague understanding of an impersonal evil, what are the effects on one’s approach to God?

Perhaps it’s just me, but it seems that, when a personal Devil is removed from consideration, and when one considers the Problem of Evil, the only remaining major celestial being is God, which causes problems. Few people doubt that there is evil in the world. But nobody knows exactly why there is so much evil if there is a good God in charge. If the Devil is removed, what must we say? That these evils are really just natural, allowed by God for some hidden purpose? --Even that God uses these evils to try us, or to discipline us into becoming better Christians?

In any case, I’m interested in hearing your views.

When he disappears, we are no longer confronting him, We are travelling in his direction.

The devil never disappears: he is always there under another guise. He was a murderer from the beginning, the father of lies, and his deceit has deep roots in our culture. His most grievous sin is presenting evil as good, and that is rampant in the world today. When I get discouraged about him, I try to remember when all of heaven was silent waiting for a young Jewish maiden to say the eternal “Yes” to God, and they rejoiced! Our Lord has already won the victory, I pray that I will be worthy and strong enough to withstand the persecutions that are coming. I feel blessed to be alive in this generation.

A friend of mine and his wife has a very scary encounter with him.
They were nominal catholics until that, they became true belivers after that. The sad thing was they got trouble finding a exorcist because several liberal priests in NY did not longer believed in demonic posession and the devil as real and not figurative. A nigerian bishop who was visiting in NY and a female american laywoman did the exorcism and that was a scary experience.

God is in charge, but in being in charge, He gave men charge of the world. The evil we see in the world is from evil who is satan and men have listened to his seductive voice and have made evil manifest into the world.

We are to be brothers and sisters to each other and good stewards of creation, but you can look at all the evil in the world and see men bring it upon themselves and the good suffer with the evil.

The manifestation of the anti-Christ will come when the world has become so evil he will manifest in the flesh, but only the Father knows that hour.

Satan is real and can be glimpsed in the evil men do to each other and the disorder in the natural world.
