When the "Our Father" is prayed, why is the last verse left off?

When the “Our Father” prayer is prayed, why is the last verse left off:“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever?”
 
That final “verse” was added by early Christians – it does not appear in the Lord’s Prayer as Jesus taught it to the disciples (Mt 6:9-13).
