Dear all,

So I’m starting to become increasingly aware of the many truths which the Catholic Church brings to people. I’m also seriously starting to believe that “Outside of the Church, there is no salvation.” Extra Ecclessia Nulla Salus. The Catholic Answers forums have helped me sort out many of my misconceptions about the Church, especially when compared to other Christian branches such as Protestantism, Eastern and Oriental Orthodoxy, etc…

My question is, I drive trucks for a living so I do not have that much time to attend a RCIA class. Are there other ways you can join the Church, such as sitting down and talking with a priest about it? 🤷

See a priest that you are comfortable with and he can offer your private instructions.

This…Either the priest will do so himself or he might be able to hook you up with someone - a deacon or lay catechist.

Good luck on your journey…

Peace
James

Best Wishes for finding a suitable situation to learn more about the Catholic Church and a convenient way to also join via a priest, or someone he designates!
Stay stafe driving…
Today it’s a mess here in Iowa with ice and snow so I hope you’re not in inclement weather.
Peace in Christ,
Mary.

Yes, I recommend sitting down and talking with a priest about when you can sit down and talk with a priest about it. 🙂

RCIA is the usual way most adults enter into the Church nowadays, but it’s not the only way. If your schedule will simply not allow you to go through the process the usual way, talk with a priest and he will guide you on what to do.

Welcome!

Also, if you’re looking for churches to attend while on the road, there’s this website, Catholic Directory, which can point you to a Catholic church in whatever area you happen to be in at the time.

Just keep asking around until you get a “yes”. You will find help.

Thanks, I’ll try my best. I usually drive between Memphis, Tennessee and western Arkansas every day, and get home every night. I just end up starting at midnight, and ending around 10 so I sleep all day haha.

BZKoss, a lot of church parking lots and roads are not friendly to tractor trailers/18 wheelers. Although you can park in more places if you happen to get lucky enough to drop your trailer somewhere, and bobtail your tractor to a back parking space. Many places are far too narrow, and there are far too many automobiles that could take a chance of being hit.

I don’t know how it is handled in other archdioceses, but in ours, Orthodox Christians don’t go through the normal RCIA process, they enter the Catholic Church through one of the Eastern Rite Catholic Churches. So go talk to a priest and you can contact the local Catholic Archdiocese for more information. Good luck!

Yes, to what Fred said about keep asking until you get a “yes.” 😃

I live where there are very few converts so there aren’t even RCIA classes. I was instructed one on one. It can be done. However, someone caught something interesting-- if you are already Orthodox (Russian, Greek?) then you do not have to go through so much instruction and technically you can receive the sacraments in a Catholic Church.

Hi, thanks all.

Yes I was chrismated into the Greek Archdiocese, but I’m not sure I could reproduce my chrismation certificate as it has been destroyed due to my own spiritual frustrations. I feel like the biggest thing I need is a regular confessor. My parish has changed priests yet again, and I feel like I need to form a relationship with just one priest. Things are much more structured at my local Latin Rite church and there are no shortage of priests, and many of them have been there for some time – including one who is an Eastern Catholic, serving in a Latin Rite parish.

I was baptized under a Trinitarian formula in a Baptist church, so I would be received into the Latin Rite. I just need to find a place where I can be spiritually nourished I guess, without having to go out of my way or burdening any clergy due to my needs.🙂
