Welcome to Catholic Answers Forums!

Yes, I know many regular Mass-goers, talk with them (but not while Mass is going on), and know a little about them. There are several that I know very well. I have gotten to know them at various parish programs and events apart from Mass.

How about you? Are you trying to get to know the people you see at church?

Yes, I do that sometimes. If I see someone whom I haven’t seen in awhile, I’ll make sure I try to talk to them after Mass.

If you live in a parish long enough, you might go to their annual festival, Lenten fish dinners, Bible study, prayer events, musical talent show, Christmas singing, and so on. You might get involved collecting food or clothing donations for those in need, supporting the local pregnancy care center, or teaching religious education to children and teens. If you do such things, you will get to know a lot of people whom you see at Mass.

Of course. We have a fairly close-knit parish though with vibrant Bible Study groups, Adult Sunday School, and other outreach groups, so we tend to run into each other regularly. What is nice though is that I have found that when we see each other in town, we maintain that closeness.

I am a bit aloof. I do sometimes say hello. But that’s about it. I guess this is not the friendly way to be, but I am who I am.

I greet people as they walk in, so I’ve met quite a few. I also go to daily mass and we often chat afterwards. KoC, Holy Name Society, parish council, and the church festival are great ways to get to know people.
