Yes you should. If you feel as though you should not receive communion because you are in a state of sin, should you still attend mass?
Who cares? That’s their problem not yours. We shouldn’t go (or not go) to Communion based on what others around us might think of us. Did Jesus care what people thought of Him when he dined with tax collectors and prostitutes?I would think you should, but if you attend that church regularly and are active and people really know you, then I feel like there will be questions about why you did not receive communion and I feel like a lot of people would judge.
No that would not be OK.Any suggestions? Would reading the readings for the day be alright until you can make it to confession?
Why not just do what is right and not give any thought to what people may think of you?
Personally, if I see someone deliberately not going to Communion, then I view that as a sign of true faith on their part. I see them as a person who values the Eucharist for what it is (the real physical presence of Christ) and would not go to receive if they felt themselves to not be in a suitable state to receive.I would view that as a sign of piety and humility.
