St. Paul, MN might be perfect for you, specifically the west side near the Mississippi. This includes the Macalester-Groveland, Highland Park, and Merriam Park neighborhoods. I live in Mac/Groveland, and within a couple of miles of my house there are 5 K-8 Catholic Schools - our kids attend one of those and the school is phenomenal. My kids walk a half-block to school. We also live two blocks from a park that has an free outdoor skating rink and we spend a lot of time there - my kids love to skate. There is no shortage of winter here (especially this year, it seems) and there are lots of things to do outside. One of the favorite things to do is climb on the snowhills in the church parking lot - they get pretty high
.
There are several Catholic High Schools to choose from in the area (one right in the neighborhood - Cretin-Derham Hall), including one that is all-boys and one that is all-girls (St. Thomas Academy/Convent of the Visitation). My neighborhood also has two Catholic Universities - University of St. Catherine for women and co-ed University of St. Thomas.
Good luck in your search!
