I am the MC for the bishop who is coming to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation and would like to find to vimpa for the servers acting as crozier and miter bearers. I’ve searched the web and countless catholic supply stores but have been unable to find them. any ideas? thanks

Since there are no rubrical specifics as to the composition of vimpas, the easiest thing to do is to buy cheap fabric and make them yourselves. That is what my parish did. We simply bought an inexpensive white fabric (silk-like in its appearance), and cut two pieces the size of a humeral veil. Two more one-inch wide strips were cut and attached to the top of the vimpas to serve as ties, and voilà!

Usually the bishop brings his own since this is not something that you would use around the parish except the one time the bishop comes for Confirmation.

Many bishops do not bring vimpas with them when they visit parishes because they do not automatically expect that a parish will have servers trained in how to wear and use them. In my experience the bishop and his chaplain will gladly allow them to be used, but will not expect them outside of the cathedral or anywhere where they are not providing the servers.

Sounds like the best practice is (again!) to contact the priest in question (in this case the chancery) and ask them if the bishop will be bringing them or can bring them. The person Mcing the Mass should be sure that they understand all the bishops requirements anyway, so a call to the chancery is in order in asny case.
