Hello, I am LDS and have been following the Divine Office through a download to my iPOD. The site a use is “DivineOffice.org”. My question is as I have followed this additional experience to my prayer life, I wonder if the Office is practiced anywhere in Bellevue, Washington. I have attempted to look at the local Catholic Churches, but I don’t find any of them that specifically state times for the Divine Office being said. Am I missing something or is it known by another name? Is the Office held in groups or is this something that is only a personal prayer expression for priests, etc? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Diocesan priests usually pray the Liturgy of the Hours privately. So you won’t find it in most parishes unless they are staffed by a religious order. In Seattle, the Dominicans sing Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer at Blessed Sacrament Parish, near UW. In Lacey, WA the Benedictine Monks of St. Martin’s Abbey sing the Office. However, their office is made up of more psalms than you will find in your office book.

In Bellevue, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace pray at least part of the Liturgy of the Hours. But I don’t know if it is open to the public. You might inquire.
