My husband and I are recent converts, 2009, both from protestant backgrounds. We LOVE the Catholic faith!

I have a habit/hobby of pulling up sermons online and listening to them while I do laundry (I’m a stay at home mom). I recently pulled up our old non-denominational church just to hear our old pastor for memories-sake, and he used to have some really good talking points.
He did a sermon on communion, and started bashing the Eucharist, saying “some believe it’s the actual body and blood of Christ, this is absolutely NOT TRUE” and he went on and on about the subject. (granted, I know protestant churches don’t believe in the real presence, but I guess it was his tone that sounded so hateful and passionate that bothered me)
I was so horrified, I got goose bumps!!
I learned my lesson. We knew him and his family personally, spent many lunches and get togethers with them, and I never realized how anti-catholic he was. But come to think of it, I had met his wife for coffee to catch up about 18 months ago, and told her we were going through RCIA. That was the last time I ever heard from her. I guess she wrote me off!
I should have known better, but I have an interest in different aspects/views from other denominations. I LOVE apologetics, and I guess I’d like to be able to defend the Catholic faith on their views.

On a side note: Can anyone suggest any Catholic speeches/homilies online for me to look up and listen to? I’ve googled, and they are hard to find. Found some by Peter Kreeft, but some of his speaking is a little over my head. I often listen to The Journey Home show podcasts, but wish I had more variety.

Fr Robert Barron’s “word on fire” homilies are top notch. He also has a youtube channel with short video clips about different subjects. www.wordonfire.org - look for a link that sayus “audio” or “radio” or “sermons”. I can dig up the exact url later. But he has literally years worth of homilies about the weekly readings, free for all.

Lutherans close to me, don’t believe in the Real Presence either. How sad is that?

You can lead a horse to water, you can’t make them drink.

Fr. Corapi can be accessed on the EWTN website as can good live and archive broadcastss of their programs

catholicexchange.com has a good sermon each day from a good preacher, usually the third of the 3 main lead articles, and a homily on the days readings from the bishops

Thanks to everyone for all of those link suggestions!! I will give them all a try:)

Father Corapi is one of my favorites! I couldn’t find much on him that I didn’t have to buy. I will search EWTN. Thanks!

Hi. Go to ETWN website, click on audio, there should be a LIBRARY of free downloadable talks and series by the likes of Fr. Groeschel, Fr. Pacwa, Ted Sri, Jeff Cavins…lots and lots and lots, with a huge variety of issues, teachings, apologetics. Folding laundry is a good time for me to listen, and I fold a lot of laundry in a house with 7 kids!

Peace be with you.

I came back to the Catholic Church after 40 years and it was John chapter 6 on “his presence” that did it. This poor protestant minister is mistaken. Pray that the Lord shows him different. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Receiving communion is partaking of the prefect sacrificial lamb. This we were told by Our Lord and Savior. Yes, His listeners/followers they were shocked by it … yet he said it was the truth in spirit … therefore we walk by faith not sight. To claim there is no real presence is to deny what our Lord said … better to walk by faith not sight.

I’m constantly blown away at the sincerity of question askers and the generosity of the responders.

An act of Thanksgiving for you all to the Blessed Trinity. God Bless.
