How should the contribution patterns of a corporation affect our search for gainful employment? In otherwords, is it immoral to work for a company which you know makes ‘charitable’ contributions to organizations which promote such immoral acts as contraception and abortion?
What about working for a company which supplies equipment to such a corporation as well as to other corporations which may or may not make such contributions?
What about working for a company which supplies material to such a supplier?
It seems like almost any product could end up, eventually, contributing to the profits of corporations which make such contributions. Where do we need to draw the line in terms of our moral responsibility, b/c we need to work, too, in order to support or families? Or do we even need consider such things in our search for employment? Obviously, I would never work for an organization who is directly invovled in procurring abortions or promoting other immoral acts. But is it morally reprehensible to work for a corporation which may contribute to such organizations, along with real charities, even if I have no say in how those charitable funds are allocated?
Thanks for any feedback.
