Where do Bible authors say the end times are imminent?

There are passages in the New Testament (and maybe even the OT) where the Biblical author indicated his belief that the end of the world was imminent. I recall one Epistle that starts a sentence with something like, “In these last days…”

Can anyone provide citations for these passages?

You’re probably thinking of the KJV version of Hebrew 1:2, where it says that God “Hath, in these last days spoken unto us by His Son…” I don’t think that that is the reflection that the End is imminent.

Supposedly, Paul so thoroughly alarmed the Thessalonians with End Times talk that they mistakenly believed that the End was going to be “any minute,” so that the main intent in 2 Thessalonians 2 was to “calm their homones” on the subject.

You might also check out the entire chapter Matt 24. Specifically notice verses 32-36:
"Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. "But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
There is also a great deal of information about end times near the end of Luke 17 and Luke 21, and Mark 13.

I suspect one of these references contain what you are trying to find. If not, shout out again! 🙂

The end times are always imminent and have been since the Ascension. Always be prepared and not worry about marvels of fake prophecy. Always be ready, Our Lord could come in 2 seconds, or tomorrow, or in June. No one knows except the Father.

Tiger :),

Amen. You are correct that the end times are always imminent.

The end times are happening every day for someone, as our “End time” is on the day we die. Beyond that, we are not meant to speculate. But our final breath may be drawn at any moment and we are wise to be as best prepared as possible in case it happens sooner than we expect.

God Bless,

David,

To Paul, the end could be any day.

When it comes to the synoptics, however, the parousia is more concerned with the presence of God. And that happens when Jesus rose from the dead. Yahweh has liberated the cosmos and God is present.

One can also argue from the fall of the temple in 70 AD. Some say that that is what Jesus was talking about in the synoptics.

The end times, not the end of the world was imminent. With the birth of Jesus who is the Messiah an age was coming to an end. This is what was prophesied in the Scriptures regarding the coming of the Messiah.

The end of the Old Covenant was completed with the destruction of the Temple at Jerusalem. The new era of grace had already begun and there was to be no more animal sacrifices since that form of sacrifice was completed in Jesus Christ.

There is a theme that filters through the Scripture regarding “end times” and there is relevance in every age to the “end times”. We for example have been going through a time of darkness. In this case the Scriptural meaning of darkness is sin. It does not take much imagination to see that the effort to introduce euthanasia is something that is very wicked. This age must end soon and we must see the triumph of the Two Hearts, that is: the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Hi David 🙂

Whilst I’m not certain of the exact passage you are refering to; Jesus states in both revelation 22:7 and rev 22:12, that, “I am coming soon!”
Hope you find the passage you are looking for.

Speaking of end times.

My wife is quite apprehensive about the subject of Rapture. What is the catholic position on this subject?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
