How do priests, who are interested in celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass, go about learning to do so in 2012? Following the rubrics, in Latin, faithfully, and with the right understanding and disposition, and training acolytes seems complex.
Are there officially approved training programs that a priest must complete? Who teaches it? About how long does it take to learn to celebrate the Latin Mass? Must priests be approved, licensed, or tested by some designated authority before they may celebrate the Latin Mass? Or is instruction generally informal through such means as self-study, on-the-job training, mentoring, etc.?
I’m just an interested layman.
Thank you!
