Is there any specific place where you feel at peace, where you can feel the presence of God?

There maybe two places where I truly feel at peace- at prayer in the immense Cathedral, under the gaze of the saints in statues and stained glass; and outdoors in a forested area, away from the city. Unfortunately the Cathedral isnt so peaceful with the constant sounds of hammers and drills working on the outer stone work; and my location in the center of the concrete paradise that is my city leaves me with little chance to be in nature.

For me, I feel peace the most during Eucharist Adoration, with or without the exposed Host.

In any Catholic church, not necessarily a Catheral, there is always a tabernacle with the body of Christ in it. That is the physical presence of God. When you are with the real presence of Jesus, you cannot help feel peaceful. The concrete assurance is right there.

Hope this helps.

I find God most easily when I am alone in a quiet environment and even more easily when I am hurting or feeling abandoned. That is when He is most real to me. That is when I feel His presence the strongest. Nobody like Him. Nobody.

I don’t equate a feeling of being at peace necessarily with the awareness of the presence of God, although the two have occurred together from time to time. I am aware of (not necessarily through the emotions) the presence of God in every situation and circumstance of life, including the most tumultuous, painful, chaotic and disturbing.

I have found God in my love of my family, during mass, adoring the eucharist, and praying. I have experienced him in many different places and through so many different people, it’s hard to name a certain place, or time.

16. What do we mean when we say God is all-present?**
When we say that God is all-present we mean that He is everywhere.
a) God is everywhere:
first, by His power, inasmuch all things are under His dominion;
second, by His Presence, inasmuch nothing is hidden from Him;
third, by His essence, inasmuch as He is in all things as the cause of their being.
Scripture:
“Whither may I go from thy spirit, or whither may I flee from thy face? If I ascend into heaven, thou art there; if I lie down with the dead, thou art present. If I lay hold of the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the farthest part of the sea: Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 138: 7-10

To break it down further, Jesus Christ is Present as the Risen-Christ, the God-Man in the consecrated Eucharistic Host, and is Present everywhere else within the Trinity. He is present as the God-Man in His Resurrected Body at the right-hand of the Father and in the Consecrated Host.

However, this needs qualifications. God did not break off pieces of Himself and place them in Creation. (That’s pantheism). God is not present in my highlighter pen, otherwise, I should worship the pen, right? So, God is present everywhere in His Omnipresence (all-seeingness), but He didn’t cleave off pieces of Himself and thrust them into Creation. He is Present as the cause of life, for without God, life would cease to exist. But, God can exist without Creation, for He is happy in and of Himself. One could then say that God’s Will is necessary for the existence of Creation, his consent.

Creation is like a big painting, and God is the Artist. We see evidence of God’s presence in His creation because an artist’s work is always a reflection of some part of his soul. We see evidence of God’s Essence because of the shere existence of the painting.

Hope that helps, albeit clumsily written—I’ve been away from this for a few weeks and am a bit rusty. Glad to see CAF up and running again.

God Bless!

At the Elevation of the Host, sometimes my heart feels as though it is swelling within me, and I choke up.

Apart from that, I find God in many unexpected places and people.

Although I realize God is present everywhere, I will admit there are certain places that really help me to focus in on him. One of these is going to sit outside on the swing in the backyard at night. Alot of times I just take my iPod outside, lay on the swing, and listen to Gregorian Chant. That is really nice.

Also, I go to church, and instead of going into the chapel, which is almost always open and is where the tabernacle is, I go into the main church building (it is usually locked, but I found one door that is almost always unlocked, so you can get inside). Anyways, it is dark, and I just usually go right up to the front row of pews and look at the giant mural of the transfiguration.

I get a very intense feeling of love and peace when I go to adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This has improved my life in so many ways. I highly encourage this devotion.

Feeling peace and feeling Gods presence are two seperate things for me to experience. I have peace when we (me and Mike) are on a date. no kids. no fighting. no bribing.
just me and Mike, alone.
I have peace (alot of it, too 🙂 ) at this time.

And…
I feel Gods Presence in the wee hours of the morning when I cant sleep and its just me and Him, talking, visiting.
Or when one of my kids come to me with open arms for a Bear hug… a -just because- hug! Or when I do fun things with them and I see their joy… I find God’s presence in these moments.

Thanks for asking this question. Its a beautiful one to share.

While the peace you are talking about indeed are peace, the real peace, the peace beyond our understanding, only comes from being with the Lord, our God.

Peace!

Begin by knowing that there is a God and that you need Him.

And by calling on Him.

J-E-R-33-3 is sometimes called “God’s phone number”.

Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell to you things great beyond reach of your knowledge."

God is everywhere, and I find Him in many places like, nature, a lttle baby, the aged, the poor, the ill, anywhere there is life.

I find him in my heart, where I can visit with him whenever I wish.

When I pray kneeling against my bed at night. I know the imagery reminds me (and probably you) of a little kid. I’m actually almost an adult. But what’s wrong with that anyway?
