Where do you keep your blessed palms?

Or do you keep them? Since today is Palm Sunday, I thought I’d ask. I keep mine on the dashboard of my truck, all year. I used to keep them somewhere in the house and invariably I’d forget about them. But now, when Lent comes around again and I see the little basket which my parish leaves in the vestibule for collecting last year’s palms to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday, I just go back to my vehicle and bring mine in.

I no longer bring them home. I used to make elaborate weavings from them.

You can only fit so many behind the crucifix in the kitchen. I try not to bring them home for that reason. I was finding them all over my house during a declutter attempt last year and had a heck of a time trying to properly burn them.

How to Burn Blessed Palms Catholic Living
They did not burn as well as I figured old dry palms would. One kid was singing Happy Birthday…because fire. Another kid was staring into the fire like a pyromaniac. Still another sang a confusing mashup of Marian hymns and warnings about what to do if you see a snake in real life probably because our Mary statue is stepping on a snake. The baby was screaming inside. We went to check on her and the wind blew most of our palms away. We burnt anything that was left and put it in our Mary garde…

In this corner of the planet, we use boxwood branches instead of palm fronds.

I used to put them on the crucifix in the living room and change them every year. A few years ago, the branches dried in an attractive formation so I decided to keep them.

Subsequent years’ branches then went on that shelf behind the rear seats in the car. Our previous car was a sedan; the shelf was fixed in place so it was a handy area to put the branches. Now we have a hatchback and the shelf lifts on one side when we open the rear hatch. I’m not sure I’ll keep putting the branches there because sometimes they fall onto the back seats, and I’m afraid I might not notice until I put something on top of them and crush them. But I have no clue where else I could put them. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Usually one or two on the large print of the last supper we have. Any attempt at weaving something usually goes horribly wrong.

Draped over the Bible on the Bible shelf.
I also draped some purple-and-white craft ribbon.

I never learned how to weave the palms into anything either 🙁, but I’ve seen nice little crosses and such. There are probably You Tube tutorials on weaving palms now.

I’m like:

Touching each other, especially during the Sign of Peace. . .oh wait, you mean the ones from the TREES. Usually tucked behind the large framed picture of Jesus and Mary “Bless This House” I have on the music room wall.

This is where I have always put some.

I have some that a friend did some nice weaving of for me one year, and I have just kept that lovely piece of palm.

It’s hanging up behind my picture of Jesus in the Garden. It’s on our bedroom wall in our large bedroom. ❤️

On my home alter and behind the crucifix in my living room.

Behind the crucifix in our entryway. We remove the ones from the previous year and burn them in our fire pit.
