Where does this quote of St. JPII come from?

Does anyone know where this quote comes from?

“Think of it like this: chastity is the work of a lifetime because it is a beautiful, mature and profound virtue. Chastity is like a great work of art–a masterpiece that is only completed after years of trial and error, years of training and discipline, years of failure and continued attempts.”

I googled it but found no source material.

Actually, the only thing he ‘quotes’ is the sentence “chastity is the work of a lifetime.” The rest of what you’ve quoted is Fr Longenecker’s own words.

It’s interesting – all over the 'net, people have ‘quoted’ JPII as having said “chastity is the work of a lifetime,” but there doesn’t seem to be any real attribution for this quote.

(I’m guessing that it’s a paraphrase from Love and Responsibility: “chastity is a difficult, long term matter” – p. 172, Ignatius Press, 1993.) If memory serves, there’s a more recent re-translation, but I don’t think I have a copy of it, so I can’t turn to the passage in order to see how it’s translated there…
