usually true if you want to be a diocesan priest for your diocese. even so, you can still petition to attend another, but it’s up to your bishop. then there’s the option of changing your home diocese and serving the bishop there. you’d go to his usual seminary, or of course, petition for another.I doubt you’ll have much of a choice. Bishops typically send their candidates where they want them to go.
