I doubt you’ll have much of a choice. Bishops typically send their candidates where they want them to go.

usually true if you want to be a diocesan priest for your diocese. even so, you can still petition to attend another, but it’s up to your bishop. then there’s the option of changing your home diocese and serving the bishop there. you’d go to his usual seminary, or of course, petition for another.

if you want to be a religious brother or priest, orders usually send their students to a certain seminary as well. then of course you can always petition, but it’s up to the superior.

if you want to be a lay person, there are seminaries that allow lay students too.

not sure if this has reviews of seminaries but here’s the newman guide of Catholic colleges thenewmanguide.com

Hi. I just registered for these forums and I saw your post. I cannot say enough good things about St. John Vianney in St. Paul, MN. The rector, Fr. Baer, is absolutely amazing. The men there are wonderful, and the philosophy and Catholic Studies departments at the University of St. Thomas, with which the seminary is affiliated, are the best in the country. You will not find a better seminary than SJV in all four areas of priestly formation. Of course, I am a little biased. I graduated from there two years ago.

Blessings.
