Where is the Garden of Eden?

I seen a special on TV that spoke of this topic. In this special they were using new photographic technology in space to look at the surface of the earth. They discovered four achient river beds that came together under our present day Black Sea. And, of course this subject immediately came to the researchers minds.

While the garden was certainly destroyed in the flood, if it was not destroyed earlier, I think there is some good evidence to equate it with the garden of Golgotha where Jesus died and was buried for the following reasons.

1. Eden was a mountain. Jesus was crucified on a mountain.
2. The river flowing from Eden was one river that later divided into 4 rivers.
3. One of the four rivers of Eden was the Gihon, the name of the water source for Jerusalem.
4. The location where Jesus was crucified had a gate (into Jerusalem on its eastern side) like Eden. The location had walls, two sides by the city of Jerusalem and two sides by a hill half quarried for building stone for the city.
5. Jesus’ body is the only source of eternal life, so He is the fruit on the tree of Life so His cross was the tree of Life.
6. Jesus cursed a fig tree on the Monday before He died and it withered, so the wood became available for the crosses of the thieves crucified with Jesus. Adam covered themselves with fig leaves the first thing available so likely the tree of Knowledge was a fig tree. Since the tree of Knowledge was good, it could impart knowledge of good and evil. The good thief got the good, the other the evil
7. In Greek, the word for garden was paradise. Jesus told the good thief this day you will be with Me in paradise. They were already in a paradise.
8. It is likely the angels at Jesus’ tomb were cherubim.
9. Jesus is called the New Adam
10. Mary can be shown to be the New Woman (Eve), and Jesus calls her woman.
11. The water flowed from Jesus side, the start of the River of Life.
12. The Three Crosses were located almost exactly in the center of the garden.
13. The church of the Holy Sepulchre occupies this site currently.
14. The gate from Jerusalem was the Gennath gate or garden gate.
15. Since God gave command to multiply and fill the earth, the garden was meant to be expanded until it filled the earth.
    Today the garden is in Heaven

Some believe and some don’t but I think it is located in Iraq, where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet.

Excellent, God does speak in parallels of association and he can create it in reality.

Then there is still the same old conundrum of how much is figurative and how much literal, but let’s have faith and believe. For God and his gift of life through Jesus Christ is real whether the tail is weaved in Biblical Word alone or incarnate in literal flesh, blood, position, and wood. So, how do you think God would choose? Would he create it or just write it? God always seems to be more than I ever expect. Don’t doubt because you expected less, be thankful and give praise!!!

If the Eucharist can be invisible beneath the accidents of bread and wine–why can’t the Garden of Eden be present beneath the accidents of present day Iraq?

Maybe the level of pure SUBSTANCE there really is an angel with a firey sword guarding the garden?

The only reason there would be for this to happen that I can think of is maybe Satan and the evil angels are able to be at this level.

The only reason an angel would still guard it is if God intended one day for the Garden of Eden to be reestablished in the New Jerusalem.

So maybe the Garden of Eden isn’t still around.

One other reason for its existence might be that Enoch and Elijah went there–it was like heaven–but wasn’t the abode of God which is heaven because Jesus had not already unlocked heaven’s gates.

Maybe none of this is true–I only know one thing–heaven is invisible to me but I believe it. Just because you don’t see the Garden of Eden doesn’t mean that it might not exist!
