I’ve been meaning to ask this for a while, but I kept forgetting.
I have seen it read/chanted in Latin at EF Masses both at the altar (on the Gospel side) and also completely outside the sanctuary (on the Gospel side with the priest facing the other side of the church, accompanied by servers with candles and incense). In both cases, it is sometimes then read in the vernacular from the pulpit. My question, however, is whether there is an option to read/chant the Gospel either at the altar or outside the sanctuary , if this is a variation in Low, High, or Missa Cantatas, just a local custom, etc?
