Dear friends

Where is your favourite place to pray? for example, is your favourite place before the Blessed Sacrament, on a mountain side alone, in a garden, before a shrine, in your own room, in a prayer group etc. Or don’t you have a favourite place?

Why do you find this place helps you to talk with God?

Thank you for any replies

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

I like praying at out little chapel next to out regularly used church. Its so little with only about 10 pews on each side. I can be right there in front of the blessed sacrament and it feels a whole lot more personal.

I pray anywhere I feel the need to. I mostly like to pray during daily mass though, I feel really close to God.

I don’t know if I would say it is my favorite place, but I do pray the most consistently in the car. It is small, enclosed, quiet, and I have the time to talk to God then.

Of course, in a church would be nice, in front of Jesus, but around here they are locked. Yes, I could go to the parish office to get them to let me in, but that poses too large of an obstacle for me. If I really need to pray in front of Jesus, I drive to a church and park in the lot and pray. I am in no shape for a pleasant chat with the secretary if I NEED to pray in front of Jesus.

Pug, that takes me back to some of my best prayer memories!

At one time I used to live in rather noisy surroundings, and have always liked to pray in the early evenings. So I would drive just out the city a little to one or another nice spot where I could be quite alone, and pray in the car for as long as I liked -till it got dark.
Those were some of the times of deepest intimacy with God that I have ever experienced.
These days I do live in a very quiet area, and like to pray in an upstairs room with a peaceful view - in the evenings, in summer. Right now it is winter (here) and I just like to pray in my living room - on the sofa. I live alone, so I can pray as and when I please, which is itself a great blessing!

I pray when I’m walking around our fenced in property. It is calm & peaceful.

I think when I pray this way 1st thing in the morning with my hair a mess, old clothes on, no make-up, rosary dangling, and my mouth moving but no sound coming out, the early morning commuters are probably saying, “Look, they let out the crazy lady again”.

In my own house…
My home has a real history to me. My (maternal)greatgrandparents bought it for my grandparents in the 1920’s. My family has lived here ever since.
My mom & daddy were married in this house. Daddy worked in a Christmas tree farm before they were married, & he gave her & my grandparents a tiny tree that was going to be thrown out when they thinned them. It still stands in my front yard where he planted it, before WW2.
I grew up in this house.
Every inch of it has been hallowed by the deep Christian faith of all these people. I know where Mom & Daddy stood when they took their wedding vows. I know where my grandmother would go to read her Bible & pray. (After more than 20 years, her apron still hangs in my kitchen).
I have all their Bibles on my bookshelves…all of them marked & worn by their use of them. I have the diary my greatgrandmother wrote in the last year of her life, & I have my other greatgrandmother’s Bible ( in Dutch) which she used to teach herself to read.
Where better to pray?
