Where should the parish serve coffee and doughnuts?

Is it permissible to have coffee and doughnuts in the actual church?
 
It’s not explicitly forbidden, but common sense should indicate that it is not appropriate either (unless, of course, the refreshments are not being served in the sanctuary but in an attached social center).
