Where to find commentaries about specific Bible passages

I am looking for a list of books in which I could search for a specific Bible passage and see what various Chuch fathers, Popes, Ecumenical Councils have to say about it. Can anyone recommend some books that would help me?

Currently, I’ve been able to do this by using the scriptural index in the Catechism, the Navarre Bible,Ott and Denzinger. I have access to Haydock’s commentary online. Are there any other good sources?

Thanks… I knew that Jurgens’ book had was arranged by topic, but I wasn’t sure if there was a scriptural index. I’m assuming that you are able to look up specific scripture verses… am I correct?

That’s correct.It contains a general index and a doctrinal index as well. Here is a Product Description from another source:

The Church strongly encourages “The Navarre Bible” that comes out of the seminary in Navarre Spain. This has scripture quotations from the early Church Fathers and Saint Josemaria Escriva. You will not be disappointed and worth the investment. Good Luck!

It should be made clear that beyond the Imprimatur, “the Church” does not have an **official **positon on the Navarre or any Bible commentary, and we shouldn’t make it sound like it does.

Having said that, the Navarre is one of the best out there and is highly recommended by orthodox, Bible-studying Catholics everywhere --including Fidelis! 👍
 
The Catechism of the Catholic Church has a section called “Index of Citations” which will show you different bible passages and where they are discussed in the Catechism.

Does anyone know if this Index of [biblical] Citations is available on line?
 
Try the Biblia Clerus program. There’s a sticky about it at the top of this section.
