I hope I am posting this in the right place!

I want to ask a Question about becoming Catholic, so first I’ll give a little background as to where I am at.

About a year ago I met and made friends with a wonderful and very faithful Catholic family.
I had considered myself a “christian” for a long time before I met them (since I was about 8 or 9 years old, I’ll be 18 this August) attending a protestant church every now and then, praying, attending youth group etc.
When I met this family I started to learn about the Catholic faith. The more I learnt the more I liked the Idea of becoming Catholic…I guess you could say I felt a calling to the church.
Anyway I began to attend Mass with my friends and I really love it, at first it was really daunting but now I am comfortable to attend daily mass on my own and I no longer feel like a fish out of water.
The last few months I have been attending Mass, I leave afterwards with such happiness and such a positive outlook on everything. I cant seem to get enough of Mass!

Lately while sitting and watching my friends as they go up to receive communion…I have been feeling more and more like I am in the right place.I cant wait till I can become catholic and receive communion.

So that gives you a little (probably very jumbled) description of where I am at! Im wanting to know where I should be heading next with becoming catholic and receiving communion. It may seem like I should just ask my friends but they have never mentioned anything about it so i thought I would ask here.

Thanks in advance, my apologies if my post is hard to understand at all.

God Bless,
Helen

I am so glad that you have found such comfort in the Catholic Church I completely understand where you are coming from.

To become a Catholic you should talk to your local priest the church should run a RCIA program you need to go through this to become a Catholic. It goes over all the important things so you can be sure you are making the right choice.

I look forward to hearing about you becoming a Catholic. I only recently convert and it is by far the best thing I have ever done.

Helen, I agree with Louise. Talking to the priest is your next step. And as with her, I too am a convert and feel it is the best thing I have done in my half century of life.

I’m so glad you found us here at CAF to let us know of your journey,

God bless,

Dale

I agree with the other two posters. I call myself a convert even though I was baptized Catholic as an infant. I was never raised Catholic and did start out on the Protestant side as an adult. They just could not answer my questions. Then after studying history and found out it was the Catholic Church that gave us the Bible I said well let me look at the original Christians i.e. the early Church Fathers and come to find out they were all Catholic wow!

The Catholic Church can trace its history all the way to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

As what Dale said, it was the best decision I ever made in my life.

The Holy Spirit has started you on a journey just let Jesus do the driving.

Welcome Home-God Bless. :signofcross:

Thankyou all for your replies. Its all a lot more complex than I originally thought! But I am doing my best to learn and am loving it all!
Thanks again, I will keep you updated.
