Where's all the Catholic Radio down south?

I wonder if posting something in the church bulletin would work…first, I need to contact RR…and see what their $ needs would be to broadcast in Tampa Bay area…thanks Cat…you have inspired me to move.

Well, if you’re looking in FL, there’s WDEO that the Ave Maria people put out. It’s the standard Ave Maria Radio programming. I don’t know what the range on it is, though, it’s an FM station. Good stuff, though.

I was driving to Charleston the other day, then on the was back home, I remembered “Hey! They got EWTM programming around here!” I picked up a clear signal on AM from Charleston to Columbia, but heading back towards Charlotte to get to where I am (not in Charlotte), I had to rely on my personal music for entertainment.

Charlotte is supposed to be this huge important city now (or at least everyone living there thinks it is) but for some reason, no Catholic programing on the radio. No FM, not AM. You can’t throw a rock without hiting some Fundamentalist program, but if you want Catholic, too bad.

What’s the frequency on AM? I have family in central S.C. and visit them so it would be nice to be able to listen a little.

I hadn’t thought of FM for talk radio…hmmm…in PA, Relevant Radio and the Protestant talk shows were all on a.m. Hey–I’ll check it out!! Thanks:)

We bought two about 1 1/2 years ago. It is a little unit, and it just plugs into your lighter for power, and the antenna is a magnet that sticks on your car. You tune your in-car radio to an FM station and the little unit broadcasts to your FM radio. Cool thing about that unit, you can buy a second antenna on a base and use it for home/office too 🙂

It has a remote - the unit was less than $50. There is an activation fee, don’t remember what it was but it was not a pile of money.

The monthly charge is about $12, and you get a month free if you pay a year in advance. Your second subscription is discounted.

They also have GREAT Jazz 🙂

810 AM I believe, but outside of the whole Columbia/Charleston area along I-77 and I-26, forget about it! Good in between, just not outside unfotunatlely. Maybe you’ll have better luck? I am up in York County, so all I get is static.
 
I’m up here just outside of Jacksonville. We have a wonderful Catholic Radio Station, WQOP (Queen of Peace) 1600 A.M. in Atlantic Beach/Jax Beach. They just celebrated 10 years. I heard that it’s signal reaches as far north as Hilton Head but I don’t know how far south it reaches. I feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful Catholic station & I contribute to it financially as much as I can.🙂
