I’m looking for a Catholic Bible that has side margins of approximately 1". Presently I am using an RSV Ignatius Catholic Bible. The translation is good, but the margins are about 1/8", and so I can’t write notes for myself as I read. I looked at Bibles at a Catholic bookstore, but none of the Bibles had margins of this size. Do you know of any good Catholic Bibles that have wide margins?

I know that there are several non-Catholic Bibles with wide side margins, but I want a Catholic Bible. Thanks!

I own several Bibles and the Catholic Bible that has the widest margins as far as I know is the Catholic Study Bible, with the NAB translation. I’m not that crazy about the footnotes and study guides, but the translation is sound, it’s the one most often heard at Mass, and the one most Catholics would bring to a Bible Study.

A word about making notes: I’ve been making notes in my Bibles since I was about 28 years old. I’m 47 now and in recent years, my eyes have gotten so bad I’ve found I can’t read many of the notes I put in 20 years ago–even with glasses! So if you’re young, write BIG and CLEAR! 🙂

Haha…yeah, thanks for the advice!

My vision is already really bad, and I’m only 22. I can’t imagine what my vision will be like when I’m 40-something. Maybe you should use a magnifying glass to read your notes 🙂

My NAB Saint Joseph Edition (Large Type, Illustrated) has 1/2" margins.
Happy hunting.
