See, you need to move to the Diocese of Rockford, all you Joliet people. We have a wonderful paper, the
Observer. We have a great bishop. Things here are a tad more conservative than in the Joliet diocese. I used to live in Joliet, so I know. Just hop over the border to the Aurora deanery.
I like
the Doctor Is In, but only when Dr. Garundi is on. Sometimes, Dr. Kelly-Mast is almost too sweet. It might be my background, but I think a lot of these people who call into this show don’t need sweet. They need a hard line drawn, but in a humorous way.
I like Drew Mariani some of the time, but on other occasions, he has on guests who are more than a little off the wall. Some of the stuff Father Altier says is a bit off the beaten path. Was it last week or the week before when Father labeled all rock music evil, even Catholic and Christian rock, because of the beat (not at Mass, just for listening pleasure)? I’m sure Father Altier never ventured to the web sites catholicjukebox or phatmass. I am sure the folks at EWTN in general and Father Francis Mary in particular don’t share the same views. Then there was the minister who had been an athiest, but came back from Hell after a death experience. I skimmed the guy’s book at Border’s, and found out the guy believed in a form of reincarnation, working on “levels” after death to achieve Heaven. And then there was the dentist who wanted us all to avoid eating anything but the same diet as chimpanzees so our teeth would be spared! Yes, Drew does have an interesting show. It could use some tweeking, in my opinion. Drew IS cutting into Chicago drive-time shows, so that is a good thing. He’s even cut into the Roe Conn Show- not an easy thing, to syphon off WLS.
Both my husband and I watch *the Journey Home *on EWTN. I like Father Corapi, and he likes Father Groeschel. We both like Father Mitch, but then, Father Mitch is from Chicago. What’s not to like?
