The first reading from yesterday, Rev 4:1-11, was awesome! I had a great time reading and rereading it and imagining being there. I also read Rev 1 to get more insight into the “seven spirits”. It mentions there the angels of the seven churches. Those churches are I assume the ones addressed in chapters 2 and 3.

My question is this. When Rev uses the word “church” in this context, how would it translate to what we know today? Are these churches equivalent to a diocese? Or to a parish church? Do our diocese have an angel in heaven or is it all the way down to the parish level?!!!

It is a sobering thought to know that each “church” has a spiritual representative dedicated to it and that representative is always in the presence of God! Awesome again!

God’s blessings!

need a ghost? 👍

But boy was that Gospel reading a bear! Whew!
I guess we better be sure we recognize the day of our visitation, huh?

Every Diocese, every parish church, every Baptized person has an angel.

Do not some interpret the reference to ‘the angel of the church in…’ as a reference to the bishop? This is how I take it. Why would Christ ask St. John to write a letter to an angel? (Remember, in the Greek, the word simply means ‘messenger’ and does not necessarily apply only to spirits).
