I am trying to decide between the Magnificat, and Give Us This Day.

Is one better than the other? What do you like and why?

I saw a similar thread on here (that was 7 years old) when I was trying to google to help me decide, but thought maybe I should get some “fresh opinions”.

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Magnificat, The Word Among Us are both good.

I have subscribed to both of them. I also like One Bread, One Body.

One Bread, One Body will be sent to you with only a donation.
You don’t really need a subscription. I send a donation from time to time.

The other subscriptions are expensive, but they are definitely worth the price.

I use mostly free online resources. Also the the Laudate app has some great daily reflections that I find really helpful.

I have subscribed to the Magnifcat for three years now.I really like it a lot.It is a wonderful way to get the daily readings, gospel.I also like the daily meditation as well.
I am not familiar with the other options you mentioned.
Additionally,I subscribe online to Spiritual Gems/ Anthony Mullun.
It is a breakdown of the daily gospel with affirmations I find this to be a lovely way to meditate on the gospel after reading it in my Magnificat.🙂

Yes, I have been trying to use Laudate and the Lighthouse Media App in my phone to get the daily reading etc. My biggest struggle with phone apps and online sources is that its too easy for me to get distracted by other phone or online stuff. That’s why I recently decided that I need a physical paper copy of whatever I use so I can unplug and focus.

I get the daily readings from the USCCB site here

You can just subscribe and every morning you’ll have the daily readings emailed to you.

I like Give Us This Day because it contains more than daily readings.

Each day has morning scriptures & prayers and evening scriptures & prayers, a feature/biography of “blessed among us” (usually a saint), a reflection on the day’s readings, and the daily mass readings.

With all of this material each day, I’m more likely to pick it up 3x a day and spend those few moments with the LORD than with the other subscriptions you cited.

I used to receive Word Among Us but after I read the few articles in that month’s edition, it was “only” mass readings which are valuable - but as others have noted, those are readily available online for free.

Just my 2-cents!

The Catholic Company also has the link to the USCCB for the readings, but also includes a meditation and a homily, which are very good.

You can subscribe here

You can subscribe and get the daily readings, meditation and homily.

It’s also a source for books and other items for Catholics.
