When Jesus walked the earth, sabbath always started the night before, not the morning of! I go on Saturday evening because then we wind down with supper as a family and a quiet evening. Sunday morning is fresh and new and a very restful continuation of the sabbath. Sunday evening, when prepping for school the next day, is not restful. So my 24hrs of sabbath are from 5pm Sat to 5pm Sun.
I am a daily communicant, and my spirituality is never of the checkbox mentality, thankyouverymuch.
Plus, in my parish, Saturday evening has better musicians and generally a more reverent celebration, in part because that is when the deacon serves and he’s a red/black kind of a guy.
