I am thinking about getting a new copy of the Douay Bible that I use. My copy is 90+ years old. It is in remarkably good condition for its age, but–I know that it is a matter of time before it falls apart in my hands.
My problem is that I cannot find out which version is the most legible. I am not going to be able to read little tiny print (though I don’t need it huge), & I would like a good clear typeface. The main reason that I continue to read the one that I have, is that it is very, very readable.
I have tried emailing the publishers of some of them, but I have never had an answer. So I would like to know if there is any one that you all know of that I should look for, or any that I should avoid–strictly on the basis of my aging eyes??
Thanks in advance.

Google Barronius Press. They just released a new edition that I hear is really nice and leather bound is about $50.00.

If you have the money, get the Haydock Douay-Rheims Bible, it’s commentaries are 100% Catholic and Father Haydock quoted the Church Fathers and Medieval Saints extensivley. (Saints such as St. Bede the Venerable and St. Thomas Aquinas). It is around $100.

I have this edition and it is beautiful. It comes in hardback and flex cover. There are a few typos in it, but to be totally honest, aren’t anything to write home about (Jonah 4:11, for example… the word “not” is left out).

Well, I think it is going to be the Baronius. It say the Gibbons edition, which is what my nonagenarian one is… and I love it.
I would love the Haydock, but $100?? Oy, vay!
(I have no problem with a few small typos; I’ll just fix them as I find them).
Thanks!!

On some sites (including eBay) you can get a brand new Haydock Bible for about $75.00.

I did a Google and down loaded it for free. I use it with A Textual Concordance Of The Holy Scriptures from Tan Books $35.00. I don’t remember the site. Just do a Google.

In Christ.

Go to e-Douay-Rheims in this forum there is a link to site of that Bible I down-loaded.
