On average which extreme is ultimately worse, presuming neither invalidates the Mass?

One who supports actions that contravene the rubrics of the Mass?

One who will only accept their own personal choices (when two or more licit options exist) while falsely vilifying the other licit choices?

Any extreme which serves the will of an individual (person, group, even the priest) instead of the will of the Church serves the pride, and through that the Eneny, and thus alienates from God, instead of moving closer to Him.

I learned long ago that for most apparent dilemmas it is far better to focus on what God wants as a positive goal than to wrestle with what is the lesser of two grave evils. If you are trying to choose for yourself whether to support actions that contravene the rubrics of the Mass, or accept only your own choice while falsely vilifying the other licit choices, I strongly recommend that you do neither. Rejoice that God is present to you in the Mass, and receive Him in your heart. If you are trying to decide which other people you should condemn more harshly, I suggest that you do not try to make that distinction. Rather loving gather with your community, striving to improve things where you can and offering up to God to deal with the rest. Look up the Serenity prayer. If you are quite sure that both extremes are in error, strive for the golden mean.

I find that a lot of abuses are not because they just want to improvise. Mostly its because the priest is trying to keep the people in the pews, or get them to come.

The reason I asked this question is because some of the people who complain most ardently about “abuses” are also often those who erroneously attack licit options allowed by the Church simply because they do not fit their personal taste. After awhile that sort of shenanigans can cause some real problems.
