Which internet technologies does your parish use effectively?

Effectively is the operative word in the question. Most parishes have web sites but do they get updated frequently. I would think that effective use would include the management of the services and the use by the parishioners.

What could you parish do to use internet technology to increase membership, Mass attendance, fundraising and other parish activities?

we have had a parish website for years, established by a volunteer who left, so it has only recently been updated, by another volunteer, who maintains it on his own haphazard schedule. Nobody in parish leadership, staff or other organizations, knows about it, how to reach him or even that it exists. He basically retypes the bulletin, a week late, it he ever gets around to it, so most info is out of date. We have been given absolutely no guidance on how to contact him. Our office computers on local network are equipped for internet access but there is no provider activated, and I think Father is afraid we will abuse it, so anything I need from the web I have to do at home, on my own time, at my own expense. We have a common calendar and inter-office message system, but not all staff members have computers, so it is not very effective.

My pastor is good about answering e-mails. My 19 yr old goes into the parish office once a week to update the website. The ladies in the office love her! —KCT

None! But I like it that way. You want to talk to Father…give him a call. Or knock.

The only one they use is the: press 1 if you’d like the Parish secretary… press 2 if you’d like Fr…
