Which Issue(s) has Your Parish Priests Spoken out Against During the Homily?

Contraception
Abortion
Homosexual Marriage
Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Cloning
Sex Before Marriage
Living Together Before Marriage
Not Dressing Modestly

How Often? Would You Like your Priest to speak out more often on these issues?

Uhhhh. None of the above, sadly.

The one deacon we have that preaches sometimes has spoken out against abortion, though.

this past Sunday our priest cover almost all of them when talking about the “non-negotiables” when calling oneself a Catholic. He did tie it into the readings and was not just promoting his own thoughts for the day.

Modesty, Abortion, Racism, inequality of pay, drug abuse/alcoholism, spousal abuse, stewardship of our money, materialism, acts of charity.

I think he can’t talk about these issues enough.

Sadly, our priest did not speak on any of these issues.

Maybe we should find a good priest that posts his views on the web, then we could all hear and learn.

God Bless

None…all the priests I encountered have even been too cowardly or disagree with Church teaching.

I am new to this area but so far all except cloning and stem cell research.

A pleasant surprise. Both of the priests I heard it from are diocesan and in their 30s (from what I can tell).

or buy FR. CORAPI tapes/cd’s from his website!

All of them. As a shut-in I attend daily mass on EWTN. Excellent homilies.

I would recommend that if you are hungering for more out of the homilies you hear, listen to the Mass on EWTN TV or radio (and you can get both over the internet if you need to.).

Our priest makes sure he never mentions any of those issues. All he is interested in is the plight of asylum seekers who try to come to this country by boat.

He even told my wife he would not say anything about abortion (that was the only issue she raised with him) because he doesn’t believe it is his place to tell people what to do on that issue!

None of the above. The previous paster spoke at length for married priests. One of the deacons spoke of women priests.

It finally struck me today why some priests don’t talk about these issues – because they don’t agree with church teaching on them.

I’m in the middle of reading Goodbye, Good Men by Michael Rose, which I am finding extremely infuriating and disheartening. Obvious we know from the scandals that there are homosexual priests preying on adolescent boys. But what you are not hearing about is the absolute horror of what is going on inside the seminaries. Rose recounts story after story of men who are denied entrance into seminary or who are expelled from seminary specifically because they believe and support Church teaching on sexual morality. Radical homosexuals, deviants, dissenters and heretics are passed through and ordained because they are homosexual, deviant, dissenting or heretical. It’s no wonder that there aren’t more priests talking about the hard issues with this travesty taking place.

My priests & deacons USED to speak of these isuues. But now we are building a new chruch…and all I seem to hear is give: give money, give time, give money, give talent, give money.

While I do not mind homilies on stewardship, I’d like them to mix it up a bit. Especially in an election year.

None of them! Our parish welcomes everyone , so golly gee we wouldn’t want to offend anyone by bringing up those subjects, would we? The priests at the other Catholic church in town speak out frequently and thoroughly on all the topics mentioned. So at least we have a choice. 👍

I don’t hear about some of those nearly often enough, sadly. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything on Cloning or Stem-Cell research (and therefore know very little about those topics). I would like to hear about those…and I would like to hear some more said about Abortion as well (I think there’s a lot of people out there who need to hear that message especially.)

ZIPPO ZILCH NOTTA NEVER

After watching EWTN I wondered what was going on…I searched the diocese over and have yet to find a one

I hear “Jesus loves us…love your neighbor…live the Gospel…we are all brothers and sisters in Christ” blah blah blah

If I was single I would move to Alabamee

Ditto - Zilch. None.

We get humanistic homilies of such ilk: God is present in ALL people…love, welcome, accept, embrace…etc., etc., etc., them all.

On Corpus Christi, we were treated to an ejaculatory homily on why he would not deny the Eucharist to ANYONE who presented him/herself in a respectful manner. The day he receives a directive to deny Eucharist to anyone will be the day he no longer celebrates mass.

The majority of our parishioners agree with his messages and love him much. One reason I stay is to do what is difficult to try to advance in holiness and to save others. I sometimes quell an impulse to vomit at hearing homilitic trash. I respect him solely because God has granted him the privilege of consecrating bread. But I don’t think this will last for eternity, and an end is in sight!~

HOPE is on the way…
