because the tendancy to really make latin masses a big deal, thus always using insence, I could never go.
I am glad its not 100 years ago because I would never be able to go to Mass, being severly allergic to incence as i am…
God does things for reasons…just believe.

The Traditional Latin Mass (and I or many people who go to the Latin Mass could care less whether it was said in Latin or the Venacular) do so because it was the true Mass as said by our Lord and codified in the Council of Trent, and was not supposed to be touched by any man without incurring the wrath of St Paul and Peter themselves (read the Council of Trent Documents)

The Novus Ofdo mass is a birth of Vatican II and Ecumenism , which I support reaching out to other faiths, but not at the expense of our faith and how we pray. 70% of the Old Mass was thrown out, with even the words of consecration changed, the priest is worshipping the people by facing them, instead of God and the tabernacle at the alter in performing the holy sacrifice are just a few of the changes, that many dont even realize took place. The Novus Ordo Mass was invented to please the Protestants, and what has it done? Mass attendance has gone from 70% before Vatican II to less than 15% in some instances, many believe it is due to the vagueness of the teaching and catechisms of Vatican II and the changing of the liturgy. I attended the Novus Ordo Mass for the first 36 years of my life, and for the past 3 have attended the Latin Mass, and the reverence is beautiful. I got tired of seeing kids in T-shirts and shorts getting our Lords body in their hands, and people laughing during mass, and no two churches had the Novus Ordo mass the same way. My entire family and friends have now started attending the Tridentine Mass and it is beautiful and will come back, or else the Church will have no one left except extreme liberals.

My home parish offers the NO Mass which is the Mass I attended all my life.

Although recently I had the opportunity to attend a Rememberance Day( Veteran’s Day) service at a Ukrainian Catholic parish. I found the Eastern rite service very beautiful in it’s own way.

I have never been to a Tridentine Mass, but I would like to attend one( as long as it is in Communion with Rome, of course) to see what it is like. I imagine it would be similar to the Eastern rite Liturgy.

I regret that I did not get to experience a Mass or Divine Liturgy while overseas (on military deployment) in Sofia, Bulgaria or Budapest, Hungary.

It makes me sad to see all of the debates/arguments over which celebration is more right or reverent. What makes us Catholic( which means “universal” by the way) is that we are all united in our beliefs and faith through Rome. The way in which we express that faith (as long as it is in Communion with Rome) should not matter. Rather, we should celebrate the different customs and traditions which makes us truly universal. Abuses can occur in any tradition and it is the abuse that should be condemded, not the tradition itself.

I think our time would be better spent trying to win back our Protestant brothers and sisters, or how about even non-Christians, rather than cause division among ourselves. How do you defeat an enemy? By dividing and conquering. That is what satan is trying to do. He already divided us at the reformation and it would be sad to contribute to his efforts.
Amen!

Why attend Mass at all then? If all that is required is to be “united in our beliefs and faith” why do we have to do anything at all?

Why can’t I express my faith while sitting in a barco-lounger watching the Redskins lose another game( hey, it teaches me humility)
