I have many medals and a scapular too. I just don’t want to be wearing a chain and my scapular. That seems a little overkill. So my question to all of you is how do you choose what medal to wear or weather or not to wear a medal or your scapular. Thanks

I personally like the miraculous medal. It is a decission that only you can make. A crucifix is nice or an image of Mary. Their is a scapular medal if you would perfer that. Some have a devotion to different devotions of Our Lady and so they chose the one they like.

So would you say that the Holy Spirit might be guiding me when I want to wear a different medal??

I would say that is a good possibility. I used to have a lot of medals but have given them away to others who were in need.

To the need or situation that your day appears to briing.

Hope for hopeless, for mothers, only you know where you beleive your need is now and perhaps latter that day.

Of course I don’t know if you have, as I do, a few very special ones, given to you by a close relatoin or one given you at comfirmation or graduation.

Certain medals has certain promises associated with them. For example, a person who devotely wears a crucifix is promised a happy death. There is also a promise associated with the miraculous medal and a few other medals.

It may be overkill, but everyone can see that I am a Catholic.

I wear both the scapular and the miraculous medal. Yes at times the chain with the medal and the cord of the scapular get tangled, but I figure that if I’m serious about my Catholic faith a bit of inconvenience is more than tolerable. And as someone else said, it shows you are a Catholic and may inspire an enquiry or even an ultimate conversion. As an ultimate convert from a protestant upbringing I recall being very curious and envious as a boy that my Catholic friends got to wear medals and scapulars.

I wear the brown scapular and the miraculous medal (thats my bear minimum) and if im feelin spiffy, a crucifix OR 2 crosses (2 diff. designs) which is nice cuz the 2 crosses and the medal all fit perfectly inside eachother, they sorta ‘stack’ it definitely sets you apart (no one’s ever commented to me about it actually, none that i remember) and makes it known “Yes I’m Christian, furthermore, Im a Catholic, and I don’t mess around.” 🙂 lol

aint nothin wrong with wear the scapular and some other sacramental.

in addition to my Brown Scapular and a necklace for the day I wear three medals on a small chain. the Sacred Heart, the Miraculous Medal and the Immaculat Heart of Mary.
