Which mode of Apologetics do you prefer to study Apologetics?

I prefer all the above. In the morning though I listen to Christian radio, It’s a shame that in NY there is no Catholic radio. I’m almost tempted to spend the money and get a sattelite radio. There’s just not enough God in the North east…only my opinion.

WHy doesn’t someone come out with “Cath Tracts”, little CAtholic apologetic comic books ala, Chick Tracts?

The best apologetics book I ever read was written over 500 years ago by St. Francis de Sales. It is a collection of tracts that he wrote and distributed to all the people of a small town that had left the Church for Calvinism. After about 4 years the entire city came back to the Church, laregely because of what he had written. The book is titled, ‘The Catholic Controversy’ and is published by Tan books, I believe it is still available.

Thank you, just ordered it…

I take things in auditorily best… so radio and tapes.

But when we’re passing things on, I think we need to be sensitive to the person we are talking to – whether they are kinesthetic, visual, or auditory; whether they relate logically or emotionally; how much pride or pain they are dealing with, etc.

I voted for all of the above. I have 3 or 4 books on Apologeticts going, I’m on & off my laptop all day long checking out this Forum and other religious sites and I have EWTN running in the background…!🙂

All of the above…AND I prefer if possible to have them in a Q&A format…AND Indexed… 🙂

I’m going to do a parody of Chick’s Last Rites fairly soon. It will have some Catholic apologetics in it.

I learn best by watching a real person talking to another real person so I can see their faces and how they interact. It’s like, you can learn about rhetoric from a book, but when you see it in action, applied at just the right moment, then that is what you can imitate. You can know a bunch of apologetical arguments, but you have to know when to answer with apologetics, when to answer with listening, when to answer with your experience, etc.

I think the Mormons have a good learning idea, sending the newer “elder” along with the older “elder” (they are both very young men) and the older one does the talking at first, and the younger one watches and may contribute a verse or two.

All of the above AND MORE!

Let us not limit the defense of the faith. Defend it in every way 🙂

Have you tried listening on the Internet? Try relevantradio.com.

Definitely the Internet…so much information available so quickly comes in really handy sometimes. Books would probably come in a close second.

I agree with White Knight. The internet has come in very handy for me (especially during some massive Catholic/Protestant discussions on other message boards). I’ve been getting into the Catholic radio apologetics more and more lately, as well.

If you are talking about NY state, you might be able to pick up 101.7 out of attica/amherst. Or there is sirus satalite radio. From Toronto (all accross Lake Ontario) i can get 101.7

I was going to vote for ‘all of the above’, but Catholic Radio isn’t available (for the most part) in the part of the country that I live and work in.(the rural parts of the Greater Southwest, OK, TX, NM, and CO.)

I wish they did have it. If they do, I don’t know about it, and if someone out there has info on this, please let me know. I don’t have access(well, I’m too cheap!!) for the satellite thing.

I think I have to say that book and web were the ones that helped me understand my faith more as I came back to the Catholic Church. Ok Sure I was gone for only a year but I became very anti catholic during that year. I also know that most of the time you can not talk to certain people cause all they want to do is argue so either the web or book are great ways that you can give them the answers without them getting all rude and all.
