During Mass, I had a question pop into my head:

Which part of the Mass should I appreciate the most:

The Consecration (which is the most important part of the Mass), or the Reception of the Eucharist, which nourishes us?

IMO we shouldn’t be comparing parts of the Mass, but just wanted to put an end to this question in my head once and for all. :o

(Just putting this out there, I think that we should try to appreciate the whole Mass)

I love the Consecration, the moment at which the priest places his hands over the Eucharist. It’s magical.

Amen. When ordinary bread & wine become the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of Our Lord.

Saying it’s magical doesn’t do it justice.

But then again, I don’t think there is a word that does it justice. 😉

“Ite, missa est.”

J/K 😛

The words of Consecration and the subsequent elevations.

Aah most deffinetly when simple bread is changed into the body blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. When He is lifted up - like on the cross- to all the congregration. I believe Padre Pio when he said we could exist more easily without the sun than without the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

I personally wouldn’t compare the epiklesis with the reception of the Eucharist. The former has the descending of the Holy Spirit (how incredible is that!), and the Eucharist has Christ’s flesh and blood (how incredible is that!).
Both are infinitely important. 🙂

I do love the whole Mass, that’s why I go daily. But I love the Consecration as I put all I pray for on the Paten and in the Chalice at that Moment, with Our Lord. God Bless, Memaw

My favorite parts are singing and receiving communion.
What we sing:

The hosts of angels have come to stand with us at the holy altar.
They sing in chorus and carry Christ, the Lamb, sacrificed before us.
O come receive Him, the saving Lamb of God, who will grant forgiveness.
Alleluia.

Well the Eucharist is the main part: both the consecration & receiving the Eucharist. But the prayers are wonderful too: especially the,Lamb of God & the Lord Have Mercy. When everyone gets together to pray: wonderful.

***Receiving our Lord at communion and then, while kneeling looking up to heaven, offering thanksgiving after receiving our Lord.
