I am going to start a little poll here and ask for some responses to this simple question. Here it is.

Which does God prefer? A prayer to him in your own words, from your heart or saying the Rosary 50 times a day?

He prefers whatever prayer you have to give when given with the love of your whole heart.

A prayer prayed sincerely is better than one that is not.

A prayer prayed lovingly is better than one that is not.

A prayer prayed with trust in God is better than one that is not.

A prayer prayed in humility is better than one that is not.

A prayer prayed with an open heart is better than one that is not.

A prayer prayed selflessly is better than one that is not.

A prayer prayed by someone who lives his faith is better than one that is not.

Why on earth would one pray only one type of prayer?
Why on earth would one assume that everybody has to pray in exactly the same way?
What if “your own words” were those of hatred, despair, ingratitude? What if they were of blinding beauty, but insincere?
What if that “rosary said 50 x daily” was said with insight, depth, and overwhelming love, every time?

Finally, who presumes to know what God would “prefer” from anyone but one’s own self?

God prefers prayer arising from one with a pure heart and clean hands, one who seeks justice, loves the poor, confesses his sins, and trusts in God.
