Suspend the fact that you rigorously hold to the truth of Catholicism for a moment (assuming you are Catholic) and answer the following:

If you were not Catholic, what religion (if any) would you profess? Why?

Sorry, I would have done a poll, but haven’t figured out how to do that yet…

As a related question, rate the following religions according to how much truth they contain:

Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Wicca (that’s a toss in for Heathen Dawn…), Other

Buddahism. I enjoy the simularities that it holds to Christianity, and also the diversity that it has with Catholism as a whole.

seeing as how Catholicism is Christianity, I don’t see why it’s listed as a choice 🙂

But anyway, if I wasn’t Catholic, I’d be Orthodox, definitely. If it’s a non-Christian religion, I’d be Hindu. Amazing spirituality, similar beliefs, ritual, etc. Great philosophy.

There are only two God-made world religions: Judaism and Catholicism. Christianity and Catholicism are synomous. If I were not Catholic, I’d be a Jew (Orthodox Judaism). I would not be Orthodox on both doctrinal and moral grounds.

I have little tolerance for man-made religions, especially Protestantism. Been there, done that.

If I wasn’t a Catholic, I would become one. All other religions are more or less evil.

So, basically, if we chose a religion based, not on truth, but on what we like about it, which one would we choose? I’d probably choose Episcopalian. Beautiful liturgy, wonderful history, and you can believe whatever you want!

Heck, if thems the rules, I’ve always been fond of Norse Mythology…Valhalla sounds like a bit of fun…

Are we limited to real religions? I’d like to be a Jedi…

now were cooking with grease… may the force be with you 👍

Since I went to college, the secular humanists would have captured me (sadly). I would have remained some type of nominal Christian, however. That is, unless the Mormons had come and mowed my lawn a few times. Then I might have switched to being a nominal Mormon, if there is such a thing. I doubt I would have grasped that they weren’t Christian.

It is only in the Catholic Church that certain problems of mine would have ever gotten straightened out, so I doubt I would have been a serious anything otherwise.

Probably I’d be Jewish, because we (Catholics) share some of our history with the Jewish people. Plus the Jewish religion has a rich history, like the Catholic religion. Also, Jesus was a Jew, so I’d be in good company. 🙂

If I were not Catholic I would be Eastern Orthodox. They have the closest to the truth outside of the church. If you mean a non-Catholic religion I would be Jewish because I feel that that is the start of Christianity.
Christianity(especially Catholic) has the most truth.

Judaism has less truth.

Islam has less truth.

Bhuddism has less truth.

Hindu and Wicca have less truth.

Agnosticism might have truth…or it might not. 😉

Atheism has no truth.

I agree:). Athiesm has no truth at all.

I also agree with the agnostic statement, there undecided.

I’m down with that.

How can you be an orthodox Catholic and say this? The Church teaches explicitly that the Orthodox have valid sacraments and are true particular churches, meaning that they are not “man-made” religions. Your implication that they are is unorthodox and not just un-Orthodox.

Orthodox - the only other possibility of being the Church which Christ founded. Or Orthodox Jewish. The only other possibility of worshiping the one true G-d.

As far as making a Poll; when you create it go down below the writing area to the section titled “Additional Options”. Scroll down until you come to the section labeled “Post a Poll”. Find and check the checkbox labeled “Yes, post a poll with this thread”. Then specify the number of options you want.

Hmmm . . . I would definately be Orthodox Christian and if I could not be Christian then I would become an Orthodox Jew (although thats easier said than done, for males anyway) and follow the teachings of the more fully pro-life Rabbi Scholars. If I couldn’t be monotheistic at all, I would probably be an agnostic, though a pro-life one at that.

Eastern Orthodox, for the simple reason that it is closest to Catholicism in terms of doctrine, practice and history.

Yes they are man made religions. There is only one true church, that is the Catholic Church, the rest are man made, whether they have valid orders and sacriments or not. The Jewish religion was also started by God, but they strayed from Gods will when they rejected Christ.
