Who are the false prophets who will deceive the very elect, according to the Bible?

There is a Bible verse mentioning the above or something along those lines.
Since the original Church was only comprised of Catholic and Orthodox, I take it to mean it is referring to within these Churches and not referring to all ”that Usa evangelical type stuff”?

If that’s the case, how can false prophets potentially deceive even the very elect (I presume referring to priests?) when the Catholic Church does not allow anyway all this ”prophet type stuff”?

I think it mostly refers to the Jewish leaders/prophets of early times… like the leader of the Zealots whose revolt led to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple, the leader of the Bar Kokhba revolt, the Samaritan prophet that led a revolt crushed by Pilate, there was also a Jewish revolt in Cyprus that led to their expulsion. Troubling times back then.
