So today I managed to find a KJV of the Bible, and just decided to pick it up. It was distributed by a group called the Gideons, and I have to admit that I know nothing of them other than they seem Protestant. I have another book distributed by them as well, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. They really seem to promote reading of the Bible, so I’m curious to who they are and what they do.

Anyone have some knowledge of them? Also, is there any large difference in their version of the KJ than any other versions? I’m quite curious.

The Gideons are a type missionary Christians who distribute Bibles to prisons, hotels, schools, hostels and so on.

Thanks, I read most of the stuff on their site. It seems like they try to do a lot of good. Distributing Bibles for free is quite commendable. I wonder if there are any Catholic groups similar to this?

There is or was a group of Catholic businessmen called the Christophers, who have a similar mission. I used to see things left by them in motel and hotel rooms, waiting rooms, etc., back in the days when I was working for a living. I don’t know if they’re still active, though. Dale.
