I think sometimes a Saint picks us. In my case Saint Francis de Sales was who guided me when my Catholic faith came under attack by a Protestant friend. After being away from the Church for longer than 25 years, and really never being properly Catechised, it was his book “The Catholic Controversy” that provided me with all the answers I would ever need to properly defend and give reason for my Catholic faith. It is such a great read that uses Scripture along with common sense and charity.

No one but me knew he had become my favorite Saint. On the Father’s Day after my dad had passed away, my mother wanted to give my brother and I something special, a gift that use to belong to our dad. She gave my brother our grandmother’s old antique rosary, then to me a little red felt pouch. I about fainted when I opened the pouch and saw what was inside, it was a first class relic of Saint Francis de Sales!!!
That was no coincidence, it was destiny and part of God’s plan, perhaps a little reward to someone who loves and defended His Church with such love and passion. Thank you Lord, and thank you Saint Francis.

It’s why my user name is what it is on these forums.

I’d like to find a biography of St Benedict Joseph Labre as he’s one of my favorite saints. Also want to read more about St Joseph, Padre Pio, Andre Bessette and Charles de Foucauld.
Those are some of my favorite saints as well.

I have “The Life of St. Benedict Joseph Labre,” by Fr. Antonio Maria Coltraro. It was published in 1807, and my copy is a reissue by Tradibooks ( tradibooks.com ) that I got through Amazon in 2011. Some of the language is a little archaic (“hither and thither” - that sort of thing), but it tells his amazing story well.

For St. Charles de Foucauld, I can recommend “Charles de Foucauld (Charles of Jesus),” by Jean-Jacques Antier, published by Ignatius Press, 1999.

I have so many favorite Saints! Mary of course, St. Therese, St. Rita, St. Cecilia, St. Jude, St. Joseph, St. Padre Pio, St. John Paul II, Mother Theresa, St. Faustina. ect…

I have read a lot of saint books, but recently finished Story of a Soul by St. Therese. That book was the best book I have ever read. I have never read a story of TRUE LOVE like that before. Literally life changing.

I love all the saints, so it’s hard to pick a favorite, but some ones I really like are Mother Theresa, St. Bernadette, and St. Francis of Assisi. I know they are all featured in multiple saint books. I can’ think of any books, but I recommend the movies “The song of Bernadette” and “Brother Sun, Sister Moon” I hope this helps!!! 🙂
