If this is the wrong forum, I’m sorry…

I have a drug addiction, I admit it. It’s interefering with my life. I don’t like it anymore and I want to stop but I can’t…I’ve been trying unsuccessfully for months and I may stop for a few days and then I do them worse then ever.

Other than getting couselling or rehab (which I intend to do once I can muster up the will power to go) what else would you suggest (those who have battled and won)? I don’t want to go to any counsellor because of past experience (which is why I have to get the will power). Is there anything that you found that kept you occupied and your mind away from drugs (or alcohol)???

Thanks

Adoration and more adoration then when I finished that the Mass, prayer and reading the Bible. The rosary the greatest weapon outside of the Mass and adoration.

I have a history of alcoholism in my background and have seen it for so long. That when I would fall I saw the only true cure was in God and holding onto Christ and the Blessed Virgin.

In my deepest pains in life I would look at the Pieta and new that anything that I could suffer in my lifetime would not be as great as the Blessed Virgins suffering. It gave me strength to always go on. No matter what knocked me down!

Good luck go with God take one minute at a time one second until you can work up to a day. But trust pray and carry your rosary always.

I second going to NA meetings. I go with my boyfriend nearly every Friday. I am not an addict, but he was. (Still is because you will always be addicted.) However, he has been clean for almost 5 years now.

Eventhough I am not in the program I find it very therapuetic. There’s no pressure for you to talk or open up about your addiction. It’s completely anonymous and you can build fellowship with those who have the same disease as you. PLEASE GO!!! It could save your life. www.na.org will help you find a meeting near you.

It’s only an hour out of your day, go check it out.

I will pray that you will have the strength to go.
