Who here loves the arts and architecture? I have an absolute romantic type of attraction to old schools and classical architecture. (Nothing perverse) Romanticism is a love of beauty. I believe that we should abandon modernism and return to that which is beautiful and creates a sense of transcendence and reverence. It inspires us to do great things. Like beautiful churches can turn us to the transcendent nature of God. Sadly, Protestant churches seem to be lacking any real aesthetics other than stained glass. The classical and traditional styles create a sense of transcendence. It’s like something that is pleasing to the soul. I believe that it should make a comeback instead of cheap mass produced modernism. Some places should be given the same respect as people: care, love, respect, and continuity. I feel that way about the old schools that still have the wood elements in them. They are beautiful to soul in my view. There’s a sense of reverence and hominess in them. I consider them worthy of respect and care, yet people rip them to pieces for ugly prefab modernism and it makes me want to cry my eyes out. Sometimes I feel they are alive in their own way through the history that they have and the experiences in them and thus they cry out to be loved and preserved. That’show I feel about my own school and it makes me sad. I want to rescue the elements so bad. There’s sentience in it because you just don’t see it anymore.
