What patron saints have you named for your entire family and pray for their intercession in keeping your family healthy in mind, body, and soul, and grow closer to God?

If none, I would recommend you get you family together a choose a few.

My family’s are: St Kateri Tekawitha, St. Francis, St. Anthony, St. Therese the little flower, the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and Servant of God John Paul II.

The idea of a family patron saint is a good one. St. Joseph comes to mind as Our Lady. St Francis can protect our pets too. St Luke can help heal us, and if your family is difficult St Jude comes to mind.

St Anthony, St. Jude, St. Joseph, St. Pio, St. Monica, St. Pio, St. Therese, and of course the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Every night I ask St. Joseph to pray for my children. Daddy is deployed and need all the extra ‘fatherhood’ advice and prayers I can get!

The Holy Family, St Teresa of Avila, St Therese the Little Flower, St. Rose of Lima, St James, St. John, St. Thomas, St Anne, and St. (Padre) Pio. Also, St. John Bosco.

Blessed Mother Theresa
Pope John Paul !! the Great, yes even if it’s a bit early.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Saints… "oh Lord I want to be in that number, when the Saints go marching in! I can just imagine the image of the Communion of Saints. So wonderful! There is a modern painting in an American cathedral of several of the most famous saints… If I can find it I will post it.

We do the same with both St. Joseph and Michael the Archangel…

here is a prayer that I hope you appreciate as much as I.

Prayer For A Serviceman
Oh Mary, Queen of Martyrs, look after
my beloved wherever he may be.
Talk with him during the silent watches
of the Night and spur him to bravery
when he faces the cruel foe.
Keep him inspired by a never-dying faith in his God.
Wherever his duty takes him, keep his spirit high
and his purpose unwavering.
He is my choicest treasure.
Take care of him, Oh Mother of God !
Keep him in health and sustain him under every
possible circumstance.
Touch him with my smile of cheer and comfort and
my full confidence in his every brave pursuit.
Fail him not and may he not fail his God, his country,
Nor the one who loves him.

St. Michael**, can’t live life without him.

My husband and I later found out that we were married on the feast of St. Michael, so we know God wanted us to have a great defender against Satan’s attacks. When we butt heads (we’re both “right” all the time so we butt heads alot) I laugh and think, “We sure need St. Michael to defend this family and this marriage.”

Saint Aloysius Gonzaga - Jesuit Saint

by Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.

… have our conference on St. Bernard today, but I’ll do the next best. We do have our own great mystic, St. Aloysius. St. Aloysius Gonzaga is the correct pronunciation, the first syllable, was born on March the 9th, 1568 in Lombardy, in Italy and he died around midnight between the 20th and 21st of June in 1591 and that was the age of 23. As a member of the nobility and his fathers’ great ambition was to make a soldier out of him and to make sure he would start early enough, at the age of four he was given a full equipment of soldier’s weaponry and all the paraphernalia and at five was sent to a garrison of soldiers with some three thousand men who were training for the war against the Moors.

I will share the story if I get some time.

Well, we each have our own:

Joan of Arc
Anne
Elizabeth Seton
Michael
Thomas More
Stephen

These are all based on the people’s names. I am the only family member who hasn’t really adopted a patron, as my name is an old Testament saint. I guess I should read up and know more about her.

We’ve never taken a patron for the family, but we will discuss it. Maybe Gianna Molla.

Right now, I would choose St. Maximilian Kolbe due to mine and DH’s use of marijuana. I want to quit so desperatley but it is very tough to do so when DH doesn’t consider it a problem, therefore, its always in the house. I pray to him to help my husband realize what he is doing to himself as well as to me (whose trying to quit).

I would also pick St. Francis since we have an abundance of pets. We have 2 ferrets and a cat, and soo to be getting a dog. Right now, we’re researching different types, shelters/breeders, trying to find what’s right for us. This will take about 2 years before we decide.
