Can anyone clarify definitively who is he author of the following quote: “The Past to God’s Mercy, the Present to His Love, and the Future to His Providence.” I’ve seen it attributed online to both St. Padre Pio and St. Augustine, and maybe even to others. I did find a site online that reported that a search for the quote in all of St. Augustine’s writings turned up nothing. Does anyone know for sure who first said this?

St. Augustine is the first, st. Padre Pio just cited him, as many of them.

Thanks for this reply, but what about the search that Father Horton did and which he reports on? Do we know precisely in what document Augustine made this statement?

Google “fauxtations” and “father horton.” We are not allowed to paste links here or else I’d provide the link.

Googled. I know and I researched it yesterday, found on one catholic site (Croatian) and it is by st. Augustine. I too found couple fauxtations, one of them said that st. Mother Theresa said it but all sources refer to Augustine in the end.
Btw it doesn’t let you to post links because you are new to forum but after some time you will have permission.
