I was thinking of giving my hair dresser a rosary as a Christmas gift. She was baptised in the Catholic church as an infant, but hasn’t been to church since she was a child (~40 years ago, her Dad left the church after her Mom died).

Just wondering it you think this is a good idea or not.

I do, I think it’s a good idea.

As well, you might want to pick up a little pamphlet that has scripture reading that go along with each mystery.

You never know what giving a Rosary will do for someone…Back in the Summer I gave a non-Catholic friend a Rosary…well…check out my prayer request on her…awesome!

She loved it!!! She started to cry and said she would cherish it.

I’m not sure why that was so scary for me.

Ha, ha! This is almost exactly like a situation I had with one of my sister’s coworkers (a hairdresser), who is an awesome person raised in the Catholic faith but currently non-practicing. When reaching for her tip in my pocket one time, I felt my rosary and contemplated giving it to her. I gave her a Saint Anne coin which has a prayer for guidance on it–and she thanked me sincerely and said, “Ha! My grandmother will be so happy!” I guess her grandmother is a strong spiritual influence in her life…

I say go for it! The rosary that I carry in my pocket is the same one given to me at my first Mass–back when I was a devout Protestant. 😉

What is it with hairdressers and rosaries? When my mother’s hairdresser found out that I was making rosaries, she asked if she could have one. A couple weeks ago, she asked for another one for her granddaughter. I included instructions on how to say the rosary hoping they will actually use it as it is intended. They’re Episcopal.

Anyone and everyone. . . check out www.rosaryarmy.com It’s an apostolate dedicated to “making them, praying them, giving them away.”

You never know what good receiving a rosary will do for a person!

I like to make them when waiting in a physician’s office. I usually wind up giving them away to either the staff or others in the waiting room. The reactions are often surprising and touching.

I gave a rosary to a friend of mine (who is not really practicing any sort of religion) but she gave it back to me. She said that she wasn’t good enough for it… I told her that it was impossible for an inanimate object to be worth more than what she is, but she wouldn’t listen.
