Since the passage refers to “daughters of men”, it would seem that “sons of God” refer to non-human beings. One possibility is that they are fallen angels. But if angels are only spiritual non-gender beings, how is it possible for them to “marry” women and have off-spring?
If they are human, then which branch of the human family would they belong to (where in Adam’s family tree do they fit into)?
Do angels have gender? The angels mentioned in Scripture give the impression of “male-ness” by their names at least.
When men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair; and they took to wife such of them as they chose.
